LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND — Kazakhstan has secured a medal at the Stage 3 of the Rowing World Cup currently taking place in Lucerne, Switzerland. The achievement was confirmed by the press service of the Directorate for Sports Development under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Our compatriots clinched a spot in the top three in the Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls event. The podium placements and final times in the A-Final were as follows:
🥇 1st Place: Japan (Chika Yonezawa, Chiaki Tomita) – 07:14.74
🥈 2nd Place: Peru (Alessia Palacios, Valeria Palacios) – 07:18.51
🥉3rd Place: Kazakhstan (Yekaterina Noskova, Mariya Chernets) – 07:21.91
The Hong Kong team finished just outside the podium, settling for fourth place with a time of 07:30.60.
Kazakhstani rowers Yekaterina Noskova and Mariya Chernets went toe-to-toe with elite global competitors until the very end, ultimately securing their podium finish by comfortably outpacing the Hong Kong athletes by nearly 9 seconds.
In other events, another Kazakhstani athlete, Artyom Matusevich, finished 7th in the Men’s Single Sculls A-Final.
Context: The Rowing World Cup concludes on June 28. Over 650 athletes representing 42 nations are competing for medals. Kazakhstan is represented by a 5-member squad: Vladislav Yakovlev, Ivan Chernukhin, Artyom Matusevich, Mariya Chernets, and Yekaterina Noskova.
